LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Public Library of Catasauqua: Board game night set for Feb. 25 at Catasauqua library

When the librarian sees his shadow, that means six more weeks of reading! Stop by the Public Library of Catasauqua in the coming weeks for warmth, calmness (if you seek that sort of thing) and activities to occupy your mind and your heart.

As a way of combating all of the frigid weather and snow that we’ve had to deal with over the last month, the library has put out a display of classic board games for anyone to play. Bring a friend or three, and test your wits at Scrabble, chess, backgammon or Battleship, to mention a few. Keep warm, use the Keurig, and roll the dice!

We’ll be hosting a board game night, set for 5-7 p.m. Feb. 25, with snacks! Be prepared to enter yourself in a potential Boggle tournament later on for a fabulous prize.

The gaming club continues to bring folks of all ages together for group sessions of Minecraft, Roblox and more. A gaming guru will be on hand to assist with issues, so even if you’ve never played before, come on down. We only have six computers, so feel free to bring your own device. The next gaming club meetings will be 11 a.m. Feb. 21 and March 7.

The adult book club meets the first Wednesday of each month. The group is discussing the Barefoot Contessa’s autobiography “Be Ready When the Luck Happens” 3 p.m. March 4. They will also critique and discuss her other books, recipes and career. Call or stop by to discuss getting a copy of the book, or just show up at the group meeting to listen in.

Don’t forget about the reading and craft activity for kids and their caregivers 4 p.m. every Thursday in our second-floor space, as well as our fiber arts group the Stitches, which meets 5:30 p.m. Mondays at our downstairs conference table.

Both groups are wonderfully open spaces for regulars and newcomers to share time and activity.

Drop off gently used books, DVDs, CDs and records for our upcoming book and bake sale fundraiser, set for March 27 and 28. No textbooks, encyclopedias/almanacs, magazines or video tapes will be accepted.

Call for more information, or just bring your donations to the library during open hours.
