Keanu Dillard is looking to join exclusive company this weekend with his pursuit of a fourth straight District 11 3A gold medal.
Only 19 wrestlers in District 11 history have won four district golds and Dillard would be the 20th when the tournament commences Saturday night in Bethlehem.
Dillard, a Lehigh commit, is 35-3 on the year and 135-10 in his career. He’s never lost a PIAA postseason tournament and doesn’t plan on that changing his senior campaign, as he leads the Hawks contingent of 11 wrestlers in the field this week.
“Right now everything is mindset,” said head coach Mike Cole about the team. “We’re building our confidence to be mentally prepared.”
The Hawks roster for this week includes Mike Nicosia (107); Gino Bozzi (114); Nico Emili (121); Andre Cerrato (127); Keanu Dillard (133); Reef Dillard (139); AJ Gomez (145); Mason Thomas (160); James Bozzi (172); Connor Gillahan (189) and Grant Mulhern (285).
Keanu Dillard is the only returning champion for Beca, but Reef Dillard (16-12) and Nico Emili (22-6) look to get back into the finals after taking silvers last year. Gillahan (27-6) squeezed through to regionals a year go with a fifth place finish to round out the Hawks returning medalists from last season.
“I hope they all make it to regions,” said Cole of his contingent, “but seven or so qualifiers is reasonable.”
