Curtain Rises: Cozy up to a story with Touchstone Theatre at Godfrey Daniels

Share your own story, or enjoy others’ tales, at Touchstone Theatre’s “Winter Story Cabaret,” 7 p.m. Feb. 20, Godfrey Daniels, Bethlehem.
The performance is part of Touchstone’s “UnBound Year-Round,” a year-long reframing of its “Festival Unbound.”
The “Story Cabaret” is hosted by Touchstone Ensemble Member and professional storyteller Mary Wright.
The evening is patterned after the New York City spoken-word event, “The Moth,” founded in New York City in 1997 and now in 28 cities.
Godfrey’s features local professional tellers and an open-mic for the public to participate. Stories must be true and personal. Open-mic stories are limited to 5 minutes.
Guest performers include Wright, Dave Fry and Khalid Taylor.
Wright has been a professional actor, director, playwright and storyteller for more than 25 years. She is a founding member of the Lehigh Valley Storytelling Guild.
Fry is a folk musician, teaching artist, co-founder of Godfrey Daniels and author of “Welcome to Godfrey Daniels: How a Small Folk Club Became a Legendary Venue for Musicians from Around The World.”
Taylor is a teaching artist, documentary songwriter and musician.
Stories will be on the theme of “Light.”
The program is expected to run approximately two hours. The first hour features the guest performers, followed by a brief intermission and the open mic, with 10 slots available.
Fresh baked goods and non-alcoholic beverages are available for purchase. Proceeds benefit Godfrey Daniels.
Tickets are pay-what-you-will.
