The District 11 girls’ wrestling championships will take place this weekend at Freedom High School on Saturday and Sunday.

The top three wrestlers in each weight class move on to regionals, which will be held on February 22 at Quakertown.

Ellie Rumbalski is the lone Hurricane entering the tournament as a medalist last year when she took fifth at districts.

The senior 190-pounder will be among the favorites to reach the finals, as she enters the tournament with a 20-8 record.

Freedom’s Alexis Horvath and Jedah Canty are the leading ladies for the Patriots this year.

Both were district runner-ups last year and will look to push through to regionals.

Canty will likely wrestle at 130 and enters with an 18-4 mark, while Horvath (148) is 14-5 on the year.

Wrestling begins at 1pm on Saturday with quarterfinals starting no earlier than 2:30pm.

Sunday’s semifinals start at 10am with finals and consolation finals set for 2pm.
