‘Blithe Spirit’ spooks at Charter Arts
The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts Theatre Department presented the Noël Coward comedy “Blithe Spirit” Jan. 30, 31 and Feb. 1 at three performances in the school’s black box theater.
This “supernatural comedy” centered around novelist Charles Condomine’s use of a seance to provide information on the occult for a story he is writing. A medium is engaged, Madame Arcati and Condomine and his current wife Ruth are joined by Arcati and friends Dr. George and Violet Bradman for dinner and an ensuing seance.
Charles Condamine’s first wife Elvira is unwittingly contacted and appears as a result of the seance and the hijinks begin.
“Blithe Spirit” was directed by Kelly Minner Bickert and was assisted by Ellen Schmoyer on set and lighting design, Amy Handkammer on costume design, Carlo Acerra and Kirk Longhofer on sound design and props by Brett Mathews.
Coward’s “Blithe Spirit” was presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French Inc.
