Janet S. Hassler, 76 of Schnecksville, died Feb. 2, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township. Born in Shenandoah, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Miriam and Charles Sundy. She was the longtime companion of Jay Haines with whom she shared 26 years.

She was a graduate of J.W. Cooper High School in Shenandoah. She received both her bachelor’s and master degrees from Penn State University. She was a beloved and highly respected second grade teacher for 42 years at Sheckler Elementary School and even after retirement she was a regular substitute teacher for several years.

She enjoyed skiing, traveling, going to the gym, reading and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed get togethers with her neighbors. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sister, Karen S. Baird, niece, Cortney L. Baird, nephew, David B. Baird III; great-nieces, Julia and Macie; great-nephew Ben Baird.
