Frosty fun and festive smiles at Winter Festival

Upper Macungie Township will hold its first annual, family-friendly, Winter Festival, packed with fun winter-themed festivities all ages will enjoy, 4-7 p.m. Feb. 7 at Grange Park, 360 Grange Road.
This free event will feature horse and carriage rides, food vendors, live music performances, inflatables, face painters and more.
Mighty Kicks Youth Soccer will hold its winter session II 5-7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 10 through March 10 in the gymnasium at Jaindl Elementary, 1051 Weilers Road.
Mighty Kicks is the Premier introductory soccer option for children ages 2-7 years old.
This program is designed to build motor skills, life skills, self-confidence and basic soccer techniques.
Lil Athletics will hold its winter session 5-7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 19 through March 5 in the gymnasium at Jaindl Elementary, 1051 Weilers Road.
This multisport class will introduce children aged 2-6 years old to a variety of fun skills and drills.
Each week will focus on a different sport – soccer, T-ball and basketball.
Wildlands Conservancy will hold its Snowshoeing and Hot Chocolate program 11 a.m. to noon Feb. 21 at the Lone Lane Park Pavilion, 30 Lone Lane.
Join them for an Intro to Snowshoeing class and winter hike!
If there is no snow, you will still have the opportunity to try on snowshoes to get the feel of them in the grass.
Enjoy a cup of hot chocolate from Tom’s Travelin Coffee after your hike along the trail.
A Pennsylvania Hunter – Trapper Education class will be held 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Upper Macungie Township Municipal Building, 8330 Schantz Road.
This free training class is required by law for all first-time hunters and trappers before they can buy a license.
Participants must pass a certification exam at the end of the class to complete this training.
All registrants for this event must be 11 years of age by Feb. 28
No lunch is provided. Students should bring their own food and drink.
The township, in partnership with Lehigh Valley Martial Arts, will offer a free self-defense class for teens and adults noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 28 at LVMA, 7150 Hamilton Blvd., Trexlertown.
The class will cover the basics and foundations of self-defense, how to practice and continue learning.
Although the class is free, residents must preregister to participate.
Ziegels Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, will hold a free chili cook-off and dessert contest 12:15-2:30 p.m. Feb. 8 in the Fellowship Room.

The Fellowship Committee will host its annual potpie dinner 4:30-7 p.m. March 14. It is an all you can eat including chicken potpie, salad with bacon dressing, bread, applesauce and desserts. Tickets will be sold in advance at a discounted price for adults starting Feb. 8. Take-out quarts will be available for sale. Orders are due by March 1. Ziegels Helping Hands Youth Group is holding a clothing drive until March 8. The group will also hold a free community clothing event 9 a.m. to noon April 11. If you would like to donate gently used or new, clean clothing and shoes, bring items to the church lobby 9 a.m. to noon weekdays and Sundays. The Sunday School is holding a Tara’s Treats and Goodies candy fundraiser. Orders are due to the Sunday School office by March 1. Pickup/delivery will be March 22. Morgenland Church, 3120 Weidasville Road, Orefield, will take orders for its homemade chicken potpie with homemade noodles in quart size containers until March 1 for take-out only.
