SHS highlights upcoming events and student success

Salisbury High School continues to bring students and families together through school events, fundraisers, and athletic achievements.

With activities planned for the upcoming weeks, students have many chances to get involved and show their Falcon pride. From family-friendly nights to celebrating student accomplishments, Salisbury remains an active and supportive school community as the year continues.

One highly anticipated event is the Family Game Night, hosted by National Honor Society Feb. 12 beginning 6 p.m. in the SHS cafeteria.

This event invites students, families and community members to enjoy a relaxed evening of games and cards, with NHS providing a variety of games while encouraging attendees to bring their own favorites as well. Snacks and baked goods will be available for purchase throughout the night.

Students 14 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult and those planning to attend are asked to complete the Google form posted on social media to help organizers prepare.

Also taking place Feb. 12 is the Valentine’s STARs flowers fundraiser, offering students the chance to surprise someone special with a long-stemmed red rose.

Roses include a personalized card and ribbon of choice and will be delivered anonymously during the school day.

There is a per rose cost and roses can be purchased at lunch or in Mrs. Butterbaugh’s classroom, Room 122.

This fundraiser provides a fun way for students to spread kindness while supporting school programs.

Looking ahead, students can also look forward to Class of 2027 Day Feb. 27, featuring posters, snacks and prizes to celebrate class pride and unity. This event encourages class involvement and gives students a day to look forward to.

Academically, SHS has reached the midpoint of the year and has begun the course recommendation process for the upcoming school year.

Students are currently discussing course options with their teachers, who are recommending classes that best align with individual strengths and goals.

In the coming weeks, students will also meet with their guidance counselors to review recommendations and take the next steps in scheduling for the coming academic year.

Athletics are also being celebrated as SHS student Kendra Morgan reached an incredible milestone by scoring her 1,000th career point in basketball Jan. 28.

She is a West Chester University track commit and a multisport athlete, participating in field hockey, basketball and track and field. This achievement adds to her impressive athletic career, which already includes earning over 100 points during her time in field hockey. Her dedication and success reflect the athlete she is.

Through engaging events, thoughtful academic planning and outstanding athletic accomplishments, SHS continues to have a strong connection among students and staff.

Falcons are celebrating achievements, supporting one another and strengthening their school community.
