Around a foot of snow, mixed with sleet, buried the Ancient Oak development during a nationwide major winter storm Jan. 25.
Residents began digging out later that Sunday afternoon in an effort to keep ahead of the quickly rising frozen precipitation from Winter Storm Fern, but had to finish up Jan. 26 due to the extreme cold and pelting ice pellets.
With school canceled, a neighborhood middle school student and his dad assisted their neighbors in clearing out driveways.
While township plows effectively cleared the neighborhood streets, a few mailboxes became collateral damage in the battle with the blizzard.
A few children, carefully bundled up, ventured out to play in the frigid winter wonderland when the sun finally came out Monday afternoon.
