District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan and Catasauqua Borough Police Chief John Wiseman have announced details of an ongoing shooting investigation.

In the overnight hours of Jan. 13, a suspected car thief in Catasauqua was interrupted by a resident who brandished a firearm and fired a number of rounds at the suspect.

The suspected car thief was struck at least once.

The victim of the gunfire fled the area with what appear to be non-fatal injuries and was transported to an area hospital in a private vehicle.

That victim received medical treatment and is still in the hospital at this time.

The investigation is ongoing and at this point no arrests have been made.

This investigation is being conducted by Catasauqua Borough Police with assistance by the Pennsylvania State Police Forensics Services Unit as well as the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office.
