Zeph girls compete at EPC tournament

The Whitehall girls finished 14th at the EPC tournament held last weekend.

The girls had four wrestlers make it to Consolation Round 3 before falling: Jaslin Feliz, Alemayehu Fikirselam, Karla Hernandez and Alyse Collier.

Hernandez won her first round pinning Elizabeth Puzio of Nazareth in 3:15. She would get pinned in the quarterfinals by Stroudsburg’s Jasmine Chapman. Hernandez would bounce back with a pin of Angelina Zazvonov of Eastburg North in 2:51 before getting pinned by Parkland’s Emily Siglin.

Feliz dropped her first match in the quarters to Parkland’s Laura Volpe. Feliz then pinned Eastburg South’s Angela Clare in 4:43 before losing a tight, 14-13 decision to Pleasant Valley’s Emilynn Stipeck.

Fikirselam’s journey saw her get pinned by Isabella Wickerberg of Eastburg South in 2:49. She would bounce back to pin Jiana Alvarado of Eastburg North in just 12 seconds. She would eventually get pinned by Liberty’s Leena Cruz in 4:04.

Collier lost a 6-1 decision to Liz Karla Grullon-Vasquez of Parkland to open competition but later pinned Isabella Galarza of Eastburg South in 4:54. She’d eventually fall to Nazareth’s Aubrey Davidson in 29 seconds.

Kennedy Huddle fell to Marissa Fogel of Northampton in the opening round before winning with a pin against Kyndra Davis of Eastburg North in just 29 seconds. Huddle would get pinned by Ava Adamides of Stroudsburg in 2:16.

Maryangie Roche Denis and Ava Peluszak both dropped their first two matches.
