EHS girls down LHS

Liberty’s girls swim team hosted Emmaus on Jan. 20 but lost to the Hornets, 137-43.

“There were some different things that we did,” said Liberty coach Reik Foust. “For example, Audrey Bloss-Ferry swam one event but swam three relays. We just wanted to see how that was going to play out.”

In addition, no Liberty girls competed in the 200 IM and the 500 freestyle.

“When you’re trying to figure out what you’re going to do at the end of the year, we had a different focus,” Foust said, regarding the district meet.

While the Hornets swept all girls events, the Hurricanes had several close second place finishes, including the 200 medley relay team of Lilah McClarin, Leah Onia, Bloss-Ferry, and Estella Mikovich.

Eva Madeira came in second in diving with a score of 168.15.

Bloss-Ferry took second place in the 100 butterfly in 1:04.14.

“A lot of the things I’ve been working on in practice showed in the water today,” she said. “A lot of the small changes I’ve been making paid off.”

McClarin was second in the 100 backstroke in 1:06.20, and Onia came in second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.45.

Bloss-Ferry, McClarin, Onia, and Mikovich raced to a second-place finish in the 400 free relay with a time of 4:18.48.

“I think, right now, the coaches want us to do this lineup of three relays and one individual because I think there’s the anticipation that we’ll seed really well,” Bloss-Ferry said.
