Liberty girls take fourth place

Liberty took fourth place at the EPC girls’ wrestling championships last weekend.

The Hurricanes were only behind the likes of team champion Parkland, Nazareth and Emmaus.

Ellie Eumbalaski (190) was the lone finalist for the Hurricanes and came away with silver, losing by fall in 5:02 to Liz Karla Grullon-Vasquez of Parkland.

Liberty had six medalists in total with Leila Matejcek (100), Kendra Cressman (130) and Lidia Whistleon (142) all taking third place.

Eva Trujillo (124) and Maiya Lang (136) both took fourth after medal round losses.

Freedom finished 12th in the team race and had two medalists with Jedah Canty taking second and Alexis Horvath grabbing fourth.

Canty lost to Pocono Mountain East’s Kamora Gilbreath by tech fall 15-0 in 2:24.

Both teams will meet on Wednesday night at Freedom for one of their final dual meets of the season before the District 11 tournament gets underway on February 14.
