The District 11 team wrestling championships will take place this Saturday at Freedom High School.

The top eight teams from class 3A and 2A advance to the tournament, with seeding being completed by 12 p.m. on Thursday.

Quarterfinal round begins at 9 a.m. and semifinals will take place at 1 p.m.

Championship finals are set for 6:30 p.m.

As of this week, the top eight teams in 3A were (in order) Nazareth, Emmaus, Bethlehem Catholic, Northampton, Easton, Whitehall, Liberty and Notre Dame Green Pond.

In 2A, North Schuylkill leads the pack followed by Saucon Valley, Northwestern, Tri-Valley, Lehighton, Pine Grove, Mahanoy Area and Pen Argyl.

Bethlehem Catholic have won five straight 3A titles, but that could be in jeopardy this year with Nazareth and Emmaus looking to end that run.

Saucon were 2A champs last year and will be in the running to defend their crown.

The top two teams advance to the PIAA championships, which begin on February 3.
