LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

BETHLEHEM CATHOLIC By XXXXX Ruhl

As Bethlehem Catholic Golden Hawks return from break, they put Christmas behind them and start the new year. Since the beginning of the winter athletic season, both the girls’ basketball team and boys’ wrestling team have not disappointed. They have created yet another two teams of which the school can be proud.

The Lady Hawks started off on the right foot with a staggering 68-34 win against Liberty Dec. 1. “Our motivation and energy have been huge factors in our success this season,” says Kendall Nickischer, class of 2026, “As a team, we all share a common goal- to win.” And they have accomplished just that. At more than halfway through the season, the girls’ basketball team has shown their strength on the court, with a 13-2 record. Scoring an average of 56 points a game, these girls have truly poured their hearts into this game and exemplified what it means to be a part of this team.

With only four games left in the regular season, this team has a promising chance in EPCs and even districts. At the regular season’s close Feb. 2, the Lady Hawks have a chance at revenge against Easton. No matter the games behind them, the team is determined to forge ahead. Kendall Nickischer, class of 2026 states “Bethlehem Catholic girls’ basketball has always held itself to a high standard. We plan to continue living up to that tradition and reminding teams across the Lehigh Valley exactly what that standard is.”

The boys’ wrestlers, coming off an amazing 2024-25 season, continue to impress. Although they began the year with a 21-31 loss against Emmaus Dec. 3, they did not let that slow them down. Since then, they have fought their way to victory eight times, now with an 8-1 record. With districts coming up quickly, Jan. 31, the team realizes they must persist in their training. Keanu Dillard, class of 2026 notes “This is a new year, and those accolades will not go out and win big matches for me, so I have to rely on my work ethic and my mindset this season to translate into success.” The athletes and students alike look forward to the post-season, hoping the team can bring home another state title.

After a long week of midterms, Bethlehem Catholic students are given the opportunity to decompress and celebrate their school community. Monday, Jan. 26, marks the beginning of Catholic Schools week. “Catholic Schools week,” Melissa Magliochetti remarks, is an opportunity for us to recognize all of the people who contribute to our school, as well as an opportunity for use to highlight what makes our Catholic school such a special place.” During this week, students focus on their Catholic identity while participating in fun, engaging activities such as Meet me on the Gym floor, a morning prayer service in the gym, and the tasting fair, an opportunity for the clubs to sell food to raise money. “I hope all the students realize how blessed and fortunate they are to attend Bethlehem Catholic. We truly are a family at Becahi,” says Melissa Magliochetti.

With the year halfway though, Bethlehem Catholic students continue to show up and show out both academically and athletically. They also look forward to spring and the activities it has to offer. For more information, visit becahi.org.
