Ronald Lee Virden

of Schnecksville

Ronald Lee Virden, 83, of Schnecksville, died peacefully Jan. 21, 2026.

Born in New Martinsville, W.Va., he was the son of the late Elmer and Orpha (Haught) Virden. He was the husband of Susan (Pittman) Virden for 62 years.

After attending West Virginia University and Washington State University, he devoted 36 years as a mathematics professor at Lehigh Carbon Community College. He was passionate about learning and teaching, guiding countless students with integrity and encouragement.

His love of knowledge was matched by his appreciation for the outdoors, where he found peace, reflection and joy in God’s creation.

One of the most meaningful parts of his life was spending time with the precious people of Faith Church in Allentown, where he was an active member as well as a former elder board member and mission’s director. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Charlene (Paul) D’Agati, of Hampstead, Md., Angela (Andras) Bartos, of Hershey, Jerilyn (Devin Burgess), of Greensboro, Vt.; grandchildren, Tyler, Connor and Avery D’Agati, Benjamin and Emilia Bartos, Finn Burgess; sisters, Deloris June Batson, Mary Kay, nieces; nephews; cousins

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Donald, Charles; sisters, Carolyn Davis, Marilyn Cotter.
