North Catasauqua Police Department has issued a public service announcement to borough residents to help avoid scams.

If you have a warrant, no one is going to call you for money under threat of arrest. If you get a call, hang up and call your local police or magistrate to confirm there is no warrant. If you know you haven’t been arrested, then you don’t have a warrant, regardless of how persistent and convincing they may sound.

If you are asked for any type of cryptocurrency, such as Bitcoin, etherium, DODGE or CashApp, Venmo or any type of gift card as form of payment, hang up.

No agency with the authority to arrest, bail out your grandson or stop a warrant from being served accepts cryptocurrency, gift cards, payment apps, wire transfers or anything of that nature.
