Moore Township: Police department warns Moore residents of scam

Moore Township Police Department has issued a scam alert for residents. Do not send money via Bitcoin, Cash App or PayPal because of a phone call. Northampton County Sheriff’s Office does not serve warrants or collect fines or any payments over the phone.

If you are threatened with arrest over the phone, hang up immediately. It’s a scam.

Chapman Borough Council’s next monthly meeting is set for 7 p.m. Feb. 2 in the municipal building, 1400 Main St., Chapman.

Chapman has a rich history and derives its name from William Chapman, born in 1816 on the Waterloo battlefield. His mother went to the battlefield to attend to her wounded husband. William founded the Chapman Slate Company after purchasing the land for his company for one dollar and a pint of gin.

The township Land and Environmental Protection Board’s next meeting is 7 p.m. Feb. 9 at the municipal building, 2491 Community Drive. The board has successfully preserved countless acres of farmland and open space within the township.
