The Lehigh Township Board of Supervisors Jan. 13 meeting was a full house to witness the swearing-in of Lehigh Township police Chief John Henry III and Officer Jarett Honea. Lehigh Township and Walnutport police officers were also in attendance.
Henry was sworn in by Magisterial District Judge Robert Hawke, with Henry’s sons Gabriel and Evan looking on.
“We feel he really deserves this. Our dad has done a lot of hard work for the department. We are proud of him,” his sons said.
Henry is a 26-year veteran of the Lehigh Township Police Department.
Honea was also sworn in by Hawke, with his wife, Klarissa, in attendance.
“I’m glad to be a part of Lehigh Township,” Honea said.
Honea came to the township right out of the academy and will undergo Lehigh Township’s comprehensive field training program before patrolling the township. This structured program is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge acquired at the police academy and practical application in the field, pairing the rookie officer with seasoned veterans to ensure a seamless transition.
