Coplay: Saengerbund plans concerts
Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., has set Saturday night concerts for 7-10 p.m. in the bar area, including Larry Werner and Mandalyn Rayne Jan. 31, Kyle Yankowy Feb. 7, Sharon Pires Feb. 14, Uncle Smiley Duo Feb. 21 and Social Call Duo Feb. 28.
There is no cover charge for members and guests.

American Club of Coplay, 300 Cherry St., is holding a “steak-cash” drawing Feb. 1. Doors open noon, and raffles begin 1 p.m.

Groundhog Day is just around the corner. — Feb. 2. The hope is the grundsow named Punxsutawney Phil will not see his shadow at Gobbler’s Knob, Punxsutawney. No shadow means only two more weeks of winter.
This tradition began in 1887. Phil’s predication success rate is reportedly 40%.

Coplay Sports is holding baseball registration for ages 5-15 for the upcoming spring season. In-person sign-ups are noon-2 p.m. Feb. 7 and 21 and March 7 and then 5:30-7 p.m. Feb. 11 and 25 at the clubhouse, 666 Potter Terrace.

Coplay Saengerbund’s heritage committee is planning its annual Valentinstags-Tanzparty (Valentine’s Day Dance) for 2-5 p.m. Feb. 15. Share love with family, friends and your honey.
Entertainment will be offered by the Emil Schanta Band. The king and queen of the dance will be crowned, and there will be sweets for all attendees.

Coplay Borough is now hiring a pavilion and social hall cleaner, swimming pool manager, pool lifeguards and pool gate guards.
Applications are available 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the borough office, 98 S. Fourth St.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.
If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.
The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.

Safety tip: Feral cats can benefit from placing straw at their outside sleeping areas. Other materials that hold moisture can cause the cat to freeze to death while sleeping.

Explorer Post 101’s mission is to promote interest in the hobby of model railroading for 12- to 21-year-olds. Join the new Explorer Club for youths age 12-14. Meetings are 7-9 p.m. every Thursday on the second floor of the municipal building.
