The David Bennett Cohen Trio performs, 8 p.m. Jan. 24, Godfrey Daniels, 7 E. Fourth St., Bethlehem.
As a founding member of the iconic 1960s’ band Country Joe & The Fish, Cohen helped shape the sound of an era with his distinctive blues- rock keyboard style.
Cohen was a member of Country Joe and the Fish from December 1965 to January 1969, recording on the first two albums, “Electric Music for the Mind and Body” and “I-Feel-Like-I’m-Fixin’-to-Die,” and on several tracks on the third album, “Together.”
Cohen played and-or recorded with The Blues Project, Mick Taylor, The Luther Tucker Blues Band, Hubert Sumlin, Melvin Van Peebles, Happy and Artie Traum, Eric Andersen, David Blue, Tim Hardin, Norton Buffalo, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Buddy Miles, John Cippolina, Huey Lewis, Michael Bloomfield, Bob Weir and Jimmy Vivino.
As a solo performer, he has shared the bill with Country Joe McDonald, Kenny Rankin, Bonnie Raitt, Richard Thompson, Jerry Garcia, Leo Kottke, Rufus Thomas, Meatloaf, Booker T., The Roches, Kingfish, J. Giels and Magic Dick.
His CDs include “Cookin’ With Cohen,” “In the Pocket,” “David Bennett Cohen at the Piano,” “Bittersweet” and “Seems Like a Good Time for the Blues.”
Cohen is a music instructor, runs workshops and has made several instructional books, DVDs and videos.
The Godfrey Daniels’ concert is rescheduled from Nov. 28, 2025. Those with tickets from the previous show do not need to repurchase tickets.
