The PIAA announced their championship sites for fall sports over the next four years this week.
Most sports are remaining status quo with football and field hockey to remain at Cumberland Valley in Mechanicsburg, where they’ve been held since 2022.
Golf will stay at The Penn State Golf Courses in State College and tennis remains at the Hershey Racquet Club.
Big changes are coming for soccer and volleyball, as both sports are heading west.
The soccer championships will now take place at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh, home of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL.
The soccer championships were played at HersheyPark Stadium from 1998 to 2021 and were then moved to Cumberland Valley and ultimately Northeastern High School this past season.
Highmark Stadium has a seating capacity of 5,000, but has plans to grow to 15,000 over the next few years.
With the stadium located on the Monongahela River in the city’s Station Square district, it will provide the best backdrop of all the PIAA championships, with Pittsburgh’s downtown skyline highlighting the scene.
Girls’ volleyball is also making a move west to Saint Francis University in Loretto, ending Cumberland Valley’s four-year run.
Cross country will move to Big Spring, ending the run at The Parkview Course at HersheyPark.
