It may be the middle of winter but there is always something happening in the Salisbury Township School District and the Salisbury community.
The end of the second marking period is Jan. 22 for Salisbury Middle School and Jan. 23 for Salisbury High School students. Jan. 23 is also a T-shirt day at Salisbury Elementary School.
Looking ahead for parents of high school students, a parent information night for 2025-2026 course selection will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. Feb. 3 at SHS.
Schools will be closed for the Presidents Day holiday Feb. 13 and Feb. 16. Schools will remain closed Feb. 17 for a professional development day. All students should report to school Feb. 18.
The SHS baseball team’s fourth annual cash bingo will be held Feb. 1 at SMS. Tickets for the event are on sale now at https://tinyurl.com/SHS4thBaseballBingo.
In case of inclement weather, Salisbury has been approved to use five flexible instruction days for the 2025-2026 school year. In addition to hazardous weather conditions, flexible instruction days may be used for a variety of reasons including but not limited to a disease epidemic, a law enforcement emergency, the inoperability of school buses, equipment and/or school buildings. School closings and delays will be announced on WFMZ and shared through the STSD Thrillshare notification system. The district reminds parents and guardians to be sure their emergency contact information is up to date in the Parent Community Portal.
The STSD technology department is holding a series of free workshops for community members in the administration building, 1140 Salisbury Road, Allentown. To register, call Mary Bishop at 610-797-2062, ext. 1000. The next workshop entitled “Google Essentials: Staying Organized and Connected” will be offered 9:30-10:30 a.m. Feb 11. Participants will explore Google Calendar, Drive and Docs as they learn to keep track of appointments, safely store files and create documents with ease.
The Salisbury Township school board will hold a curriculum and technology meeting 7 p.m. Jan. 21 followed by a regular school board meeting. All meetings take place at the administration building.
Kindergarten registration for the 2026-2027 school year is now open and it is never too early to register. Parents can register online at www.salisburysd.org/kindergarten. Eligible children must be 5 years old before Aug. 31. Kindergarten screenings will be held May 4-8 and school tours as well as bus rides will be held in August.
The Ladies Aid Society of Jerusalem Lutheran Church of Western Salisbury, 3441 Devonshire Road, Allentown, meets 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays in the chapel. All are welcome for crafting and/or fellowship. You may come and go as your schedule allows.
