FHS girls top PMW
Freedom’s girls swim team earned an emphatic 120-57 victory over Pocono Mountain West on Jan. 13 at Freedom.
Lily Campbell, Daisy Stewart, Laney Stewart, and Kaylee Buglino led off the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:09.99.
Sequoia Searfass won the 200 freestyle in 2:32.69, and Campbell won the 200 IM in 2:45.36.
Hayden Taylor took first place in diving with a score of 296.80, and Emma Pitsilos came in second with a score of 184.40.
Searfass won the 100 free in 1:05.84, and Chloe Levin won the 500 free in 7:15.62.
Laney Stewart gained a nice lead for the 200 free relay team of Searfass, Mila Lowe, and Daisy Stewart that brought home the win with a time of 2:00.54.
“I knew that in order to keep my relay in a good spot, I had to try really hard,” said Laney Stewart. “Off my turn, I tried really hard, and my second lap was a lot better than my first.”
Campbell took first place in the 100 backstroke in 1:12.21, and Laney Stewart then went on to win the 100
breaststroke in 1:17.81, out touching Pocono Mountain West by .03.
“I was completely in my own zone today,” Stewart said. “Usually, I can see the people cheering for me on the deck, but I don’t remember anything. I didn’t even know [Pocono Mountain West’s Adrianna Nyffler] was next to me, and I finished, and I was like, oh my goodness, I beat her.”
Buglino, Searfass, Lowe, and Campbell closed out the girls side of the meet with a 4:37.06 winning time in the 400 free relay.
