Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.
A. Danielle Murray (mom), Mike Murray (dad), Max Murray (brother), Yogi and Harper (dogs).
Q. As a senior, do you have any specific goals you will pursue this academic year?
A. My goal for this year is really to keep doing what I’ve been doing. I’d like to continue to excel in my classes and maintain or increase my GPA.
Q. What is your favorite class at Emmaus High School? Why?
A. This year my favorite class is Physics Honors taught by Dr. Leiby. Dr. Leiby is a very good teacher and makes learning physics interesting. Additionally, I also have a fun class that makes even the boring parts of physics bearable. I’ve met some close friends in physics class as well.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. I’ve been on the Principal’s Honor Roll since the beginning of my academic career. I have also received a certificate for academic achievement.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?
A. I do quite a bit outside of school. Firstly, I bowl competitively. I bowl two leagues, one is located in Bethlehem and the other a traveling league. I’ve been involved with bowling since COVID-19 hit so it’s been part of my life for a while. Bowling has certainly taught me to be patient with myself and to never give up, which, I think definitely helped me in my high school experience. The classes I take are usually on the more difficult side so having those skills allowed me to address the challenges. I do hip-hop (dance) as well which is a nice way to stay active and clear my head after school. Finally, I also run a small business in which I sell custom press-on nails. From this I’ve learned time management which has made school way easier.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. I thought for very long about this question and the most honest answer I can give is group projects. I’ve always disliked group projects whether it was having to find the courage to go and get a group as someone who’s introverted or if it’s other members not pulling their weight.
Q. At this time, what are your plans for the future beyond high school?
A. I plan to attend college and major in chemistry. I’m not sure where as I’ve been fortunate enough to get into everywhere I’ve applied. I’m between West Chester University and Penn State at University Park right now. Afterward, I plan on attending medical school with the ultimate goal of being a psychiatrist.
Q. If you could spend an evening conversing with a historically significant person, whom would you choose? Why?
A. If I could spend an evening with a historic figure I would choose Tupac. A lot of his music speaks on subjects I’m becoming passionate about and I would like to converse about such and our views on the world. I feel he could be rather insightful and give good advice.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I would like to be remembered as just a good person. Throughout high school I, along with everyone else, met so many people and simply put, I would like for each and every one of them to think back and be happy that we interacted. I’d like to be remembered for making everyone’s lives a little bit brighter and more positive.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. Just be you. A lot of the time I find people miss out on adventures because they’re worried about what people will think about them. The reality is we’re all too worried about ourselves to care about what someone else is doing so just be you and make the most of every situation because you only live once. (And learning how to manage your time makes everything easier).
