LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

EHS mid-terms through Jan. 24

As holidays start to fade since the New Year, Emmaus High School students are back to the school environment, adjusting to the midterm schedule through Jan. 24.

As we adjust from the long, two week, relaxing winter break, we start to prepare ourselves for one of the biggest tests of the year – midterms. Midterms are tests, halfway through the year about anything and everything students have learned up until that point. Students will have one in each class and will be affecting 10% of their overall grades.

As I personally learned my freshmen year, these tests are very important and every student should study for them no matter if they think they’re ready or not.

Jan. 21 will be students’ block 1b and 2b, Jan. 22 will be blocks 3a and 4a and Jan. 23 will be 3b and 4b. Every student will start school at normal time, then be dismisssed 11 a.m. Make-ups will be after 11 a.m. every day. If a 2-hour delay somehow is applied during midterms, only your first block class test will be taken and the second block class midterm will be taken the following Monday.

If you have a study hall during the day, there is no open campus; you still have to arrive and attend the study hall. There will be breakfast served but no homeroom or lunch.

The EHS theater presents the spring musical, ”Jekyll & Hyde,” the musical March 24-29. Tickets go on sale soon so make sure to secure your spot to support our actors and actresses.

Spring sport athletes: sign ups have been sent out through email. You will need a physical, impact test and athletic fee done if you didn’t have it in the fall or winter.

Classes of 2026 and 2027: junior and senior proms will be coming up in May. Make sure to buy dresses as early as possible. As prom season comes up, online and in stores get sold out very quickly. February is a great time to go due to stores mainly having the dresses you want, you will have plenty of time to get it altered and dedicated to you and you will have very little stress of finding a dress you love.

I understand the stress of midterms coming up, but as long as you have a good study tool, review well and you make sure you remain focused, midterms should be decently simple.

I personally recommend buddying up with at least one other person or small group with the same classes to review work and study guides. Some students absolutely love it because if teachers are too busy to answer questions or go over something specific, another person would be a great alternative.

Once midterms are finally done, we can enjoy the school musical and look forward to prom and other great school events.
