Trojans beat ESS, PV

The Parkland High School girls basketball team began 2026 with wins in back-to-back Eastern Pennsylvania Conference games.

In the first game of the new year, Parkland defeated East Stroudsburg South 56-6 last Tuesday, Jan. 6, and then followed that with a 48-13 victory over Pleasant Valley Friday.

In the win over the Cavaliers, the Trojans scored 20 of the first 22 points in the first quarter and led 32-2 at halftime after not allowing a point in the second quarter.

Isabella Hallal finished with a game-high 15 points. Savannah Gonzalez and Cheryllana Cunningham both netted eight points. Aneri McGalla recorded seven points and Addison Fritzinger tallied six points.

In the win over the Bears, Parkland opened the game with a large lead, taking a 17-2 advantage after the opening quarter and going into halftime ahead 39-5. \

The Trojans gave up just eight points in the entire second half.

Hallal led the way with 10 points, while Carly Spang contributed nine points and Yana Smaltz had eight.

Parkland, which improved to 10-3 overall and 8-1 in the conference, hosted Easton this past Tuesday and travels to take on Dieruff Thursday in two conference games, before welcoming

Cumberland Valley to town for a nonconference game on Saturday afternoon.
