The Parkland High School ice hockey team dropped to the Lehigh Valley Saints, 8-2 on Friday, Jan. 2 and to Northampton, 7-4 the following Monday night.
In the game with the Saints, the two teams were scoreless after the first period, but LV found the back of the net five times in the second period and held the Trojans to just one goal to take a 5-1 lead after two. They outscored Parkland 3-1 in the third to finish off the game.
Jonah Spengler scored the Trojans’ opening goal in the second period off an assist by Bryce Haas and Carsen Kunkle. Parkland’s second goal came in the third period off the stick of Sawyer Marsteller and an assist by Jackson Bus. Chase Roberts finished with 25 saves in net.
In the matchup with the Kids, Northampton doubled up Parkland 4-2 in the first period, the two teams each found the back of the net once in the second and the Kids then outscored the Trojans 2-1 in the third.
Matthew Torres got the scoring going for his team in the first period and Marsteller tallied the second one of the frame from Haas. Chase Carl then scored a goal in each of the next two periods with assists from Torres. Roberts made 29 saves.
Parkland faced Nazareth this past Monday and will next be in action on Monday, Jan. 26, once again against the Blue Eagles at Bethlehem Municipal Ice Rink.
