The Parkland wrestling team took second place in the Cumberland Valley Duals last weekend.
The Trojans went 2-1 at the event, beating Gettysburg in the first round and Dallastown in the semifinals before suffering their first setback of the season in the title match against Central Dauphin.
Parkland handed Gettysburg its first loss of the season in the first round with a decisive 46-20 win.
The Trojans’ Lily Snook, Angelina Spachman and Liz Karla Grullon-Vasquez all pinned their Gettysburg opponents, while Payton Schneck earned a major decision and Saige Rittenhouse and Scarlett Bareither won matches by decision. Laura Volpe, Abrianna Gomez and Emily Siglin picked up forfeit wins in the match.
In a 36-28 win over Dallastown, Schneck, Sydney Laputka, Snook, Natalie Deutsch and Grullon-Vasquez won bouts by fall. Spachman and Gomez won matches by decision for Parkland.
In a 46-23 loss to Central Dauphin, Schneck pinned her opponent, while Deutsch and Gomez won bouts by major decision. Laputka earned a win by decision and Spachman got a win by forfeit.
The Trojans cruised to a 78-0 win over Whitehall last Wednesday, Jan. 7. Winning matches by fall were Schneck, Laputka, Snook, Rittenhouse, Spachman, Volpe, Deutsch and Grullon-Vasquez. Taya Daniels, Leila Palmieri, Lile Jerapova, Siglin and Bareither picked up wins by forfeit.
Parkland (9-1) took on Freedom Wednesday and will head to the Lebanon Valley Tournament this weekend.
