North Catasauqua: Deadline to order Salem UCC tote bags is Jan. 25

Salem United Church of Christ, 615 Third St., Catasauqua, is having a tote bag fundraiser. Orders are due by Jan. 25.

There is a cost for each bag with a reduced cost for multiple bags. You may also sponsor a bag for a shut-in at a reduced cost.

Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association is having a fundraiser and is selling frozen quarts of chicken potpie soup, potato and cheese pierogies and potato bread filling. Orders must be placed by Jan. 31, and there are limited quantities.

Pickup is planned for 9-11 a.m. Feb. 7 at the Biery House, 8 Race St.

The next North Catasauqua Borough Council meeting will take place 7 p.m. Feb. 2 in the basement-level meeting room at borough hall, 1066 Fourth St.

This meeting is subject to change or cancellation, so check the borough website at northcatasauqua.org for any changes. Visit the website for the access code to view the meeting virtually.

Borough council meetings are scheduled to take place 7 p.m. the first and third Mondays of each month in 2026, with the exception of the meeting Sept. 7, which will take place Sept. 8 instead.

Planning commission meetings will be held 5:30 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of each month.

Catasauqua American Legion Post 215, 330 Second St., will be hosting a Super Bowl party 6 p.m. Feb. 8. There will be food, drinks and the game on a big-screen TV. There is a cost.

Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua will hold its monthly food drive 10 a.m.-noon Feb. 13 in the parking lot of the church, 210 Pine St. Drive through to donate your nonperishable food items to benefit Catasauqua Community Food Bank.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 122 Union St., Catasauqua, will hold its cash bingo Feb. 15 in the parish center. The doors and kitchen open 11:30 a.m., with bingo beginning 1 p.m.

There is a cost, which includes 15 games, seven specials and one jackpot round. Bring your daubers, but no hardboards.

No outside food or drinks are permitted. The kitchen will be selling your favorites.

Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua’s next free community lunch is set for 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Feb. 16. The lunch is for community members with food insecurity or those who could use a helping hand.

The church is also accepting donations for the Roughie Pantry. The pantry is set up to “love our school-aged neighbors.” The pantry is currently accepting shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, body wash, tampons, sanitary napkins, etc. Collection bins are located at the church entrances.

A big thank you and job well done to the public works department for making the borough and especially North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park look festive and bright this past holiday season.

Another thank you to all who helped bring a smile to a child this past holiday season by donating to Toys for Tots. North Catasauqua Police Department once again partnered with the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots organization to provide toys for children who are less fortunate and accepted new unwrapped toys for all ages.

North Catasauqua Police Department is seeking residents’ opinions on whether they would be interested in a Second Amendment informational class. The department is looking to gauge public interest in a community class focused on responsible firearm ownership and Pennsylvania laws.

The department’s goal is to provide clarity, promote safety and answer questions from the community. This class would be open to the public and include a question-and-answer session.
