Moore Township names new chair
The Moore Township Board of Supervisors held its biennial reorganization meeting Jan. 5.
State law requires municipalities reorganize in January of even years. The meeting involves electing a board chair and vice chair and numerous other appointments.
In a gesture of amicable consideration and change, Daniel Piorkowski, previous board chair, passed the baton to the next generation by supporting former vice chair David Shaffer as the new chair for the next two years.
Shaffer thanked Piorkowski and board member Michael Tirrell Jr. for their support.
Shaffer was elected to the board of supervisors in 2017. For most of his tenure as a supervisor, Shaffer was vice chair of the board. He has a history of fully vetting any issue facing the supervisors with an eye of what most benefits the residents of Moore Township.
After filling the chair position, Piorkowski was elected as the vice chair of the board.
Piorkowski was elected to the board of supervisors more than a decade ago. He has been the board chairperson for the last several years. His pattern as supervisor chair at meetings has been to ask for input from all meeting attendees before holding a vote on an issue.
The board then completed about 25 appointments to fill a variety of roles, including a zoning hearing board member, solicitor, auditor and many more.
The next meeting of the Moore Township Board of Supervisors is 6 p.m. Feb. 3 at the township municipal building, 2491 Community Drive. It is an in-person meeting only. Visit mooretownship.org to review minutes of the meetings.
