The Emmaus swimming and diving teams competed in two invitational meets over the holiday break.

On Saturday, Jan. 3 the Hornets headed to the pool where the state championship meet is held for the New Year’s Challenge at Bucknell University. The meet, which included some of the state’s top teams, was not scored.

Kayla Kenner was the only Emmaus swimmer to win an event at Bucknell. The freshman swam the 50-yard freestyle in 23.74 seconds for first place.

The Hornets also competed in the Cumberland Valley Holiday Invitational on Monday, Dec. 29. The Emmaus boys team took first place at the 7-team competition while the EHS girls finished second to the host Eagles.

The Emmaus boys team won the meet with its depth as it didn’t win any events at CV.

In the girls meet at Cumberland Valley, Kenner won two events, taking first place in the 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle.
