Coplay: Tree pickup set for Jan. 23

The final day for Christmas tree pickups is Jan. 23.

Remove all ornaments, tinsel, hooks, lights and decorations. Trees not cleared off will not be picked up.

Coplay Sports will hold in-person baseball sign-ups, for ages 5-15, for the spring season noon-2 p.m. Jan. 24, Feb. 7 and 21 and March 7 and 5:30-7 p.m. Jan. 28 and Feb. 11 and 25 at the clubhouse, 666 Potter Terrace.

American Club of Coplay, 300 Cherry St., is holding a “steak-cash” drawing Feb. 1. Doors open noon, and raffles begin 1 p.m.

Coplay Saengerbund’s heritage committee is planning its annual Valentinstags-Tanzparty (Valentine’s Day dance) 2-5 p.m. Feb. 15 at the club, 205 S. Fifth St. Share love with family, friends and your honey.

Entertainment will be offered by the Emil Schanta Band. The king and queen of the dance will be crowned, and there will be sweets for all attendees.

Coplay Borough is now hiring a pavilion and social hall cleaner, swimming pool manager, pool lifeguards and pool gate guards. Applications are available 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the borough office, 98 S. Fourth St.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.

Help the Coplay feral cat population by supporting TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) programs at any no-kill shelter.

Safety tip: Feral cats can benefit from placing straw at their outside sleeping areas. Other materials that hold moisture can cause the cat to freeze to death while sleeping.

Explorer Post 101’s mission is to promote interest in the hobby of model railroading to 12- to 21-year-olds. Join the new Explorer Club for youths age 12-14. Meetings are 7-9 p.m. every Thursday on the second floor of the municipal building.

The Coplay aerobics classes are expanding the schedule to include 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, in addition to 8:45 a.m. Saturdays and 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays in the borough hall auditorium. There is a cost by donation.

Bring dumbbells, a towel and a mat to enhance your workout.

Coplay American Legion Post 426 has a special mailbox in front of the Post at 134 S. Second St. Worn-out American flags can be deposited into the mailbox for the Post to properly destroy them.

To join the Coplay Legion as a social member, call 610-262-7556. Social membership is open to all — veteran or not.

Coplay Athletic Club, located on the second floor of the municipal building, is seeking new and renewal memberships. A gym membership costs $90 per year and $80 for renewals and prorated.
