Blunt, Tocci-Wachter place third at tourney

The Salisbury wrestling team rang in the new year with an appearance in the Geesaman Invitational this past Friday and Saturday at Northern Lebanon High School.

The Falcons finished in 14th place out of the 22 competing schools, but two individuals stood out in their first competition of 2026.

Jarrod Blunt and Jordan Tocci-Wachter both advanced to the third-place match of their respective weight classes, with the former picking up a victory in his final match to secure Salisbury’s highest finisher of the tournament.

Blunt took care of business at 133 pounds, going 5-1 at the event (with all five wins coming via fall) to secure a third-place finish on Saturday. Blunt defeated Annville-Cleona’s Devon Englehart in that third-place match with a pin in just 24 seconds.

The Falcon sophomore opened the tournament with three consecutive pins to advance to the championship semifinal round against Indian River’s (DE) Czar Henry in 29 seconds, Manheim Township’s Trey Landis in 3:07, and Hempfield’s Maximus Switzenberg in 1:50.

After falling to Dallas Owens of Spring Mills, WV, in the semifinals, Blunt got back on track with back-to-back pins. He first took down Carlisle’s Mohammad Fayaz Rasouli in 36 seconds before that final pin over Englehart late Saturday.

Tocci-Wachter had a busy tournament run himself at the 152-pound weight class, going 5-2 over the two-day span with four of those wins coming via fall. The Falcon senior pinned Garret Lucera of Annville-Cleona in 57 seconds in the first round, and then followed that by pinning Kane Williams of Bremen (GA) in just 24 seconds.

Despite a loss in the championship quarterfinal round, Tocci-Wachter reeled off three straight wins to advance back to the that third-place match. He first picked up a 5-0 decision over Pocono Mountain East’s Samuel Oh, then pinned Caleb Rice of Ephrata in 2:55, and finally earned another fall in the consolation semifinals over Indian River’s Luis Hicks in 3:33.

Tocci’s run came to an end at the hands of Zach Hudson of Christiansburg (VA) via a fall in 2:49.

Three other Falcons picked up multiple wins at the tournament: Michael Segata (3-2) at 160 pounds, Jacob Spinner (2-2) at 127 pounds, and Jacob Watson (2-2) at 189 pounds.

Segata opened the tournament with a quick, convincing pin over Upper Dauphin’s Blake Dyer, taking him down in just 47 seconds. After a tough decision loss in the next round, Segata won his next two bouts to get back on track. He picked up a 15-0 technical fall win over Annville-Cleona’s Henry Pacewicz, and then secured a 3-0 decision over Pocono Mountain East’s Micah Bolinger.

Spinner was able to rebound after his opening-round loss to pick up back-to-back wins in the consolation bracket. He pinned Upper Dauphin’s Wyatt Kassirer in 4:37, and followed that with a 7-0 decision over Carlisle’s Cooper Beale.

Watson pinned Davon Pruitt of Spring Mills in 1:10 to open his tournament run. After a loss in his next match, Watson picked up his second pin of the event with a win over Northern Lebanon’s Gavin Nickolas in 2:40.

Salisbury will travel to Southern Lehigh for a Colonial League showdown on Wednesday night.
