Around Town Compiled by Jane Knotek

The Bethlehem Press calendar listings are, to the best of our knowledge, correct at the time of printing. We are not responsible for the accuracy or reliability of information submitted by external parties.

BLITHE SPIRIT: The Lehigh Valley Charter HS for the Arts (Charter Arts) Theatre Department continues its season with a production of Noël Coward’s mischievous comedy, “Blithe Spirit.” When a novelist invites a medium to his home for a séance as research, things go hilariously wrong – summoning the ghost of his first wife and turning married life upside down.

Showtimes include: evening performances Jan. 30 and 31 at 7 p.m. and a matinee performance Feb. 1 at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at CharterArts.org.

COOKIE SALES: Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania has kicked off the 2026 Girl Scout Cookie™ season, allowing Girl Scouts to “unbox the future” and raise funds to support their dreams through the largest girl-led entrepreneurial program in the world.

Exploremores™, a rocky road ice cream–inspired sandwich cookie, will join the legendary lineup for the 2026 Girl Scout Cookie season. In addition to the exciting new cookie, the 2026 cookie lineup will include fan favorites such as Thin Mints®, Caramel deLites®, Peanut Butter Patties® and more. All proceeds from cookie sales stay with local councils and troops to power Girl Scouts’ amazing experiences year-round.

For more information on how to purchase cookies in your community and support the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania, visit gsep.org/cookies.

MORAVIAN TOURS: Join the Moravian Historical Society’s executive director, Susan Ellis, and education specialist, Gerald Kroboth, for a special guided museum tour of the musical heritage of the Moravians. Life in Moravian settlements during the eighteenth century was musically rich. Moravians composed thousands of vocal works, imported compositions and musical instruments, and, as visitors will see on this tour, they also created some of the first musical instruments of their kind made in America. Visitors will also learn how this love of music created a lasting legacy that continues today.

Tours begin at 1:00 and 2:30 p.m. with light refreshments following each tour. This special tour is limited to 12 participants – advanced reservations are encouraged. For more information, and to reserve a tour, visit moravianhistory.org.

CAMP CADET: State police barracks in Troop M, based in Bethlehem, have announced the annual Camp Cadet program will be held from Sunday through Friday, June 7 to 12, at Camp Fowler, 5851 Horseshoe Road, Orefield.

The camp is an overnight summer program for boys and girls between the ages of 12-15. Its goal is to introduce them to the diverse criminal justice system and to establish a positive relationship between law enforcement and youths, while living in an atmosphere similar to an actual State Police Academy.

Anyone interested in attending the camp can register online at troopmcampcadet.org/

GREAT DECISIONS: Former U.S. Rep. Susan Wild will address the opening session of the Great Decisions Lecture Series on President Trump’s foreign policy at 11 a.m. Jan. 28 at Kirkland Village in Bethlehem. Her presentation will address President Trump’s severance from 80 years of U.S. foreign policy diplomacy as he now embraces an “America first” approach. The lecture series is sponsored by Northampton Community College.

Wild’s presentation is the first of eight lectures on current American foreign policy issues identified by the Foreign Policy Association in NYC, a private, nonpartisan think tank. The local Great Decisions Committee leads this program, which runs Wednesdays through March 18 at Kirkland Village.

Sign-up online at bit.ly/3BWBuvn (for individuals) and bit.ly/4hmrAn6 (for couples). While NCC sponsors this program locally, the essay booklet is available nationally and is produced by the Foreign Policy Association in NYC. The Association has worked for more than one hundred years to promote an understanding of American foreign policy among Americans.

POPUP EVENT: Each year, more than 200 local teens visit our Pop-Up Prom Shop to find a gown or pantsuit for their prom night. For many families, the cost of prom attire can be a significant barrier. This program helps ensure that students can attend this milestone event with confidence and dignity. With community support, students are able to select a dress for $20, and thanks to donated dress vouchers, we are also able to provide free attire to students who need additional support.

We are currently collecting gently used dresses and women’s pantsuits and would be grateful for the opportunity to share this initiative with the community through your platform.
