On Jan. 10, the Parkland Music Boosters held the annual music department semiformal dance. This event is held every year for students involved in Parkland High School’s music ensembles, including choir, orchestra and band. The event, held at Muhlenberg College, is highly anticipated by music students.
The dance began with a dinner taking place in Muhlenberg’s dining hall. Students enjoyed dinner, desserts and drinks included with their tickets to the dance. Once dinner concluded, attendees transitioned to the room which the dance was held in.
Outside of the room, tables were filled with Mardi Gras beads, feathers and eye masks for students to embrace this year’s Mardi Gras theme.
Additionally, there was a free photo booth where students could capture the evening’s memories with their friends. Students danced the night away to their favorite songs, even participating in dance circles with their music teachers.
The night concluded with a large raffle sponsored by the music boosters. Each student who purchased a ticket to the dance was entered into the raffle drawing upon entry and at the end of the dance, several gift cards were distributed.
By participating in music programs at Parkland, students form close friendships and connections with their fellow musicians. These students attend their music classes every day, allowing them to bond over their love for music through the school year.
This event provides these music students with a chance to bond with their friends outside of school in an exciting environment.
This year’s semiformal dance was yet another successful night of fun and bonding for Parkland music students.
