Locals selected to PA all-state
The Pennsylvania all-state football teams were announced recently with state champion Southern Lehigh leading the charge in 4A with running back Sean Steckert coming away with 4A Player of the Year honors and head coach Phil Sams being 4A Coach of the Year.
Steckert ran for 3,211 yards and 45 rushing touchdowns, setting single season school records in both categories.
Colton Sams, quarterback of the Spartans, was also named to the 4A along with lineman Carter Giberson and linebacker Dariuz Lightner.
3A state finalist Northwestern had six players named to the team, led by quarterback Shane Leh, running back Braxton Lakatosh, wide receiver Brady Zimmerman, offensive lineman Colton Popp, linebacker Shane Hulmes and defensive back Michael Lagowy.
Notre Dame quarterback Matt Bodnar and Palmerton offensive lineman Logan Anthony were also 3A selections.
In 6A, Easton led the EPC contingent with three selections, as quarterback Cole Ordway, linebacker Sean Kilpatrick and defensive back Sean McPeek were named to the squad.
Liberty quarterback Anthony Fontanez made the list after setting single-season school records with 2,827 yards passing and 38 touchdowns.
Nazareth running back Marquez Wimberly and Parkland’s TJ Lawrence round out the 6A selections, as Lawrence was named as an athlete for his work on defense and offense.
Marian Catholic’s Rory Dixon closes out the District 11 selections in Class 1A at defensive back.
