Liberty and Freedom made a trip down to the Virginia Duals over the weekend and both teams came away with a series of wins in their back pockets.
The Hurricanes finished 3-1 at the event and finished in fifth place in the TowneBank division following a 52-18 victory over Battlefield (VA). The other wins for Liberty (7-2) included a 72-6 wallop over Mount Dora (FL) and a 45-17 victory in their opener over Colonial Forge (VA).
The ‘Canes lost to Frank W. Cox (VA) 41-27 in the quarterfinals.
Freedom went 3-1 at the event as well, but took ninth in the Cliff Keen division due to losing their opening round bout to Westfield (VA) 45-26.
From there they won three straight with a 59-24 win over Green Run (VA), a 68-6 stomping over Smithfield (VA) and a 48-30 final against Grundy (VA) in the ninth place match.
The Pates (6-4) continue this week with two matches against Dieruff and Parkland.
Liberty has a tougher week ahead of them with Whitehall and Northampton on tap.
