St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church member
Marie I. Koutsouros, 90, of Whitehall, died Jan. 9, 2026, in her home. She was the wife of the late James G. Koutsouros for 35 years.
Born in Shamokin, she was daughter of the late Frank and Stella (Olshefski) Stuczynski.
She graduated from St. Edward High School, Coal Township, and St. Joseph Nursing School, Reading. She received a Master of Science degree in education from Temple University.
She worked at various hospitals in Reading, Philadelphia and Allentown before retiring after 47 years. She spent 25 of those years at Lehigh Valley Home Care.
She was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church in Whitehall and a former member of its choir. She was also a member of the choir at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Bethlehem and of the Daughters of Penelope, many years ago.
She is survived by a brother, Thomas Stuczynski of Dansville, N.Y.; a goddaughter, Wanetta Naylor; many nieces and nephews and their families; a special “granddaughter,” Ava Herzer; and many close friends and acquaintances.
She was predeceased by a sister, JoAnn Filing.
There will be a calling time 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial 10 a.m., Jan. 20 at St. Elizabeth’s, 618 Fullerton Avenue, Whitehall, 18052.
