Coplay church hosts free community meal

St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St., Coplay, hosted a Whitehall-Coplay Hunger Initiative community meal Jan. 4. Guests were served chicken Parmesan with pasta, vegetables, salad, dessert and beverages.

Patricia Karo, WCHI board member, thanked the church volunteers for their ongoing diligence to help work toward the elimination of food insecurity in the community. The meals are offered to guests at no cost.

The sit-down or take-out dinner was guaranteed to the first 75 guests. Children, adults and seniors of the Whitehall-Coplay School District were all welcomed.

The WCHI Food Pantry is located at the former Christ the King School on the St. John the Baptist Church grounds, 3024 S. Ruch St., Whitehall.

The mission of the WCHI is “to alleviate food insecurity in Whitehall and Coplay.”

Food donations can be dropped off or shipped to WCHI, Re/Max Unlimited Real Estate, 1080 Schadt Ave., Whitehall, 18052. Leave food donations in the building’s foyer on the right hand side. Refrigerated, frozen, perishable or homemade items will not be accepted for food safety liability reasons.
