Warm up with soup

Volunteers at Northern EMS, NOVA, will be cooking up soup as their first fundraiser of 2026. Selections include vegetable beef, ham and bean, turkey rice and chicken noodle.

Instead of advance orders, this time it will be first come, first served. The soup will be ready for pickup in quart containers 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.

For more information, call Diane at the NOVA office at 610-262-1075.

The kitchen will be a busy place at the Schnecksville Fire Company 8 a.m. to noon Jan. 25 for the first breakfast of the new year.

The buffet style feast includes ham, sausage, bacon, creamed chipped beef, home fries, pancakes, toast, eggs, omelets and beverages. Mimosas will be available at an additional cost.

Volunteer Alice Stahley reports the organization could use more help for the breakfasts and other fire company social hall events. “We are always looking for new faces. We always feed our workers. Help out and get a free meal,” Stahley said.

Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, will show the movie, “No Address” in Fellowship Hall 5:30-9 p.m. Jan. 24.

The story tells about a group of homeless people who bond together as a family, struggling to survive while fending off a gang and an unforgiving community while hoping for better times in their lives.

The movie will be preceded by a potluck supper. Guests are invited to bring a main dish, side dish or dessert to share.
