Programs offered for kids, teens, adults

On Jan. 6, Upper Macungie Township transitioned its RecDesk to DASH by Daysmart.
According to the township, this upgrade will enhance the online experience with a smoother navigation, improved account management and a more user-friendly registration process.
The township released the link to the new online experience portal on social media and via email to all current RecDesk users.

Upper Macungie Township, in partnership with Lehigh Valley Martial Arts, will offer a free self-defense class for teens and adults 1-2 p.m. Jan. 10 at LVMA, 7150 Hamilton Blvd., Trexlertown. The class will cover the basics and foundations of self-defense, how to practice and continue learning.
Although the class is free, residents must preregister to participate.
Join the township for its annual, family-friendly, Winter Festival, packed with fun winter-themed festivities all ages will enjoy, 4-7 p.m. Feb. 7 at Grange Park, 360 Grange Road. This free event will feature a horse and carriage ride, food vendors, live music performances, inflatables, face painters and more.
Mighty Kicks Youth Soccer will hold its winter session II 5-7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 10 through March 10 in the gymnasium at Jaindl Elementary, 1051 Weilers Road.
Mighty Kicks is an introductory soccer option for children ages 2-7 years old. This program is designed to build motor skills, life skills, self-confidence and basic soccer techniques.
There is a fee to participate in this program.
Lil Athletics will hold its winter session 5-7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 19 through March 5 in the gymnasium at Jaindl Elementary, 1051 Weilers Road.
This multisport class will introduce children ages 2-6 years old to a variety of fun skills and drills.
Each week will focus on a different sport – soccer, T-ball and basketball.
There is a fee to participate in this program.
Wildlands Conservancy will hold its Snowshoeing and Hot Chocolate program 11 a.m. to noon Feb. 21 at the Lone Lane Park Pavilion, 30 Lone Lane.
Join them for an Intro to Snowshoeing class and winter hike. If there is no snow, you will still have the opportunity to try on snowshoes to get the feel of them in the grass. Enjoy a cup of hot chocolate from Tom’s Travelin Coffee after your hike along the trail.
There is a small fee to participate in this event.
A Pennsylvania Hunter-Trapper Education class will be held 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Upper Macungie Township Municipal Building, 8330 Schantz Road. This free training class is required by law for all first-time hunters and trappers before they can buy a license. Participants must pass a certification exam at the end of the class to complete this training.
All registrants for this event must be 11 years of age by Feb. 28.
No lunch is provided. Students should bring their own food and drink.

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1028 Church St., Fogelsville, will hold its free community curbside pickup dinner 5 p.m. Jan. 16 while supplies last. All are welcome. The dinners are held on the third Friday of every other month except November where it will be held on the second Friday of the month. For more information, call the church at 610-395-5535.
