Boys have mixed results over holidays

The holiday season is in the rearview and all three local teams hit the road and came away with wins and losses from their out of area contests.

Liberty (7-5) enters the new year with the best mark out of the three teams, but suffered two losses over the break falling to William Penn (DE) 49-45 at the Jameer Nelson Classic, but coming back over the weekend with a 58-55 win over Downingtown West.

Quin Lucas-Bishop led the ‘Canes in scoring over West with 19 points, followed by Jarrell Teague’s 17 points and Jake Pukszyn’s 14 points.

Pukszyn paced the Hurricanes in the loss to William Penn with a game-high 22 points.

Liberty gets back into league play this week with contests against Easton and Nazareth.

Bethlehem Catholic (5-7) started their holiday tournament at Eastern York with a 49-42 victory over the hosts.

Parker McClary led the Hawks in scoring with 13 points in the win.

Beca lost in the final to Spring Grove the following night 59-36 with Sammy Barona Jr. pacing the Hawks with 13 points.

The Hawks fell to Pocono Mountain West over the weekend 70-38, but have an opportunity to get back on track this week against Freedom and Easton.

The Patriots (1-12) picked up their first win of the season with a 58-17 victory over Absegami (NJ) at the Boardwalk Basketball Classic in Wildwood.

Brody Stellato led the Pates with 16 points in the win.

Freedom fell to Hatboro Horsham 49-33 in their first game of the tournament and then lost to Wildwood Catholic 39-33.

The Pates opened the new year with a 55-50 loss to Pocono Mountain East over the weekend, but continue league played this week against Bethlehem Catholic and Northampton.
