Bicyclist dies after collision with motor vehicle

A New Year’s Eve collision, involving a motor vehicle and a bicycle, in Whitehall Township has resulted in the death of a Nazareth man.

Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio reported Jan. 2 that Nickolas A. Siegfried, 39, was pronounced dead just after 2 p.m. Dec. 31, 2025, in the emergency department at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township.

According to Buglio, the crash was reported approximately 1:15 p.m. Dec. 31, 2025, near the 2600 block of MacArthur Road, near Sutler Drive. It was reported an adult male, later identified as Siegfried, was operating a bicycle when he was struck by a motor vehicle.

Siegfried was transported to the hospital, where he later died as a result of the injuries sustained in the incident, Buglio reported.

An autopsy was performed Jan. 2 at the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and Forensic Center. According to Buglio, the cause of death is multiple blunt force trauma. The manner of death was ruled an accident, Buglio said.

In addition to the coroner’s office, the Whitehall Township Police Department, the Lehigh County Crash Team and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office are handling a continued investigation.
