Board OKs 2026 budget, center fee rates
Resolution 2025-9, the 2026 fee schedule for the township community center, was discussed and approved at the Weisenberg Township Board of Supervisors meeting Dec. 8, 2025.
Township manager Brian Carl started the discussion.
“The yearly family member rate for Weisenberg residents is $30 a year and $60 if they are a nonresident,” he said. “Nonresidents would be Lowhill, Heidelberg and Lynn residents. Senior membership rate for 65 and older is $5 and if they are nonresident, $10. If you would like to request a key fob, it would be $5. Everyone else, if you are OK using the app, then there is no extra charge for that.”
He said the township will have two pickleball courts so what he was thinking is that at least one would always be open for free play as part of a person’s membership. But if someone wants to reserve it, say they have a buddy coming in, they could reserve it at a rate of $10 per court per hour for residents and, if they are a nonresident, the fee would be $20 per court per hour.
“The area in the gymnasium where the two pickleball courts are, if you wanted to rent that out for some sort of event or party, it would be $75 an hour for a resident and $100 for a nonresident,” Carl said. “The [indoor] turf rental is $120 per hour if you’re a resident, Northwestern Lehigh school team or NYA team and $140 per hour for a nonresident or an outside team with a minimum 20 percent resident roster.”
He said the classroom rental will be $50 per hour for residents, $75 per hour for nonresident and the use of the kitchen would be an extra $25 per hour, and there is a cleaning deposit of $200.
“A family is defined as a group of related people living in the same household at the same address, so if you have four kids, you can all get access you just need an email address for everyone. But if your uncle lives down the road, then he’s going to need his own membership,” he said. “A resident is someone living in Weisenberg and a nonresident is someone who is living in Heidelberg, Lowhill or Lynn or someone who owns property in Weisenberg but does not actually live in Weisenberg.”
He said anyone wishing to rent a space must have a valid membership regardless of residency.
“So, if you have a birthday party or an event for your sports team, you will need to pay a membership fee on top of that [fee for renting the space] and then the yearly membership allows you to bring one guest during normal use but excludes room rentals. So, if you have a buddy that wants to kick the soccer ball or buddy that wants to play pickleball, you can bring them from somewhere else,” Carl said.
Fees may be waived for community groups, sports teams and nonprofit organizations subject to approval by the board of supervisors.
After further discussion, Supervisor Richard Beiler said, “All in all it seems like a good starting point. [We can] adjust, as necessary.”
Carl responded, “I did research all the other community centers around and the rates are comparable. Residents’ rates are less than all those other ones.”
The board approved a motion to accept Resolution 2025-9 Fee Schedule for 2026.
Next, Carl provided the board with an update from the Weisenberg Community Center Advisory Committee.
“We did have an advisory committee meeting and did select a [winning] logo [from the contest],” he said.
He said they also met with someone who paints hex signs, and the person is going to get the committee some information.
“We’ve learned a lot about hex signs, and we will hopefully select a couple of designs [for the community center] that we like at our January meeting,” Carl said. “We also looked at some turf samples [for the indoor turf with walking track]. We can save quite a bit of money if we buy a turf that is through a vendor that has a discontinued product, so we are going to do some more research on that.”
The board also approved a motion for payment application No. 5 for Conestoga Buildings, the contractor for the community center for $145,143.
The board also approved a motion to adopt the 2026 budget and Resolution 2025-10, the millage rate for 2026.
The millage rate will stay the same as it did in previous years at .56 mills for the township and .44 mills for township fire tax, so it totals 1 mill even, Carl said.
