The Parkland girls wrestling team went up against some of the top competition from across the country at last week’s Beast of the East Tournament at the University of Delaware.
The Trojans took third place out of more than 130 teams that were in Newark, Delaware, last weekend.

Parkland’s Angelina Spachman (140) finished sixth at the Beast after reaching the fifth-place bout where she lost to Mia Spadavecchia of Westwood, New Jersey.
The Trojans’ Peyton Schneck (105) and Natalie Deutsch (155) both finished seventh at the tournament. Schneck pinned Evelyn Norman (Dobyns-Bennett, Tennessee) in the seventh-place bout. Deutsch won her place match by an 8-4 decision over Maya Garcia of Buckhannon Upsher West Virginia.
Choate Rosemary Hall of Connecticut won the tournament with 163 points. Wyoming Seminary (128.5) was second, followed by Parkland (112), Mount Lebanon (109.5) and Cannon McMillan (101.6) as four teams from Pennsylvania finished in the top five in Newark.
Parkland has a couple weeks off before returning to the mats for the Parkland Winter Duals on Jan. 4.
