Ice hockey team seeks first win

The 2025-26 regular season has started for the Parkland High School ice hockey team in the Lehigh Valley Scholastic Hockey League. The Trojans are 3-0-1 through four games.

There are just five varsity teams in the league this season. Joining the Trojans is Emmaus, Nazareth, Northampton and the Bethlehem Saints.

In the season opener, Parkland fell to the Hornets 8-1 and then tied with the Blue Eagles 4-4 one week later. The Trojans once again was defeated by Emmaus in the next game, this time 10-1 on Nov. 24. Last Monday night, Parkland lost to the Saints 12-1.

In the opener, Parkland fell behind 3-0 after the first period and then was down 6-0 in the second before it scored its lone goal off the stick of Carter Willis. Chase Roberts finished with 29 saves in net.

Against Nazareth, the Trojans took a 2-1 advantage after one, but then saw the Blue Eagles outscore them 3-0 in the second, before rallying in the third period with two unanswered goals.

Willis netted the first three goals for his team and Chase Carl added the fourth for Parkland. Andrew Kaplan and Jonah Spengler each tallied an assist. Roberts ended with 16 saves.

The Hornets once again got out to a sizable lead in the last game, scoring 10 consecutive goals before Parkland got on the scoreboard.

They had four in the first period, five in the second and then another in the third. Bryce Haas scored the goal for the Trojans on an assist by Cameron Gonzalez. Roberts had 12 saves.

The Saints netted the first two goals before Parkland cut its deficit in half with a goal by Willis on the power play.

Bethlehem answered with two more before the end of the first period and added five more in the second to take control of the game. Roberts finished with 28 saves and Chase Beck also saw time in net, but did not record a save.
