The Emmaus High School boys basketball team secured its first Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory of the 2025-26 season last week after dropping their first four conference matchups.

Last Tuesday, Dec. 9, Emmaus lost to Allen, 61-55. This past Friday, the Hornets earned their opening EPC win, defeating East Stroudsburg North 53-49. They followed that up the next day with a 61-33 win against Quakertown.

In the game against the Canaries, Emmaus fell behind 15-8 after the opening quarter, but used a strong second quarter where they outscored Allen 19-7 to go ahead 27-22 at halftime. The Canaries took back the lead after halftime, outscoring the Hornets 22-15 in the third quarter.

Jacob Ross finished with a team-high 17 points for Emmaus, while Lucas Stephan also ended in double figures with 12 points. Both Matt Rooney and Noeah Newsome tallied six points.

In the victory over the Timberwolves, Emmaus led for the first two quarters, but saw ESN outscore them 18-8 in the third to go on top by four points heading into the final frame.

The Hornets then doubled them up with a 16-8 fourth quarter to complete the comeback win. Three players scored double digits, led by 16 from Ross, 15 by Newsome and 13 out of Rooney.

In the win over the Panthers, Emmaus led from start to finish and had their highest margin of victory of the season so far. Ross scored a game-high 21 points and Newsome totaled 11 points. Jayden Swan and Ben Grochowski both had five points.

Emmaus has another three-game week this week, all against conference opponents. The Hornets hosted Liberty Tuesday and are at Dieruff Thursday.
