Falcons get off to 5-0 start

The Salisbury boys basketball team has a number of players who can score, including at least two players who have scored in double digits in each of the Falcons’ first five games this season.

The team is averaging just over 61 points per game and is off to a 5-0 start.

Steven Lozada and Garrett Leiner both scored 15 points for the Falcons in their 57-36 win over Jim Thorpe last Thursday. Drew Petrie scored 10 points against the Olympians.

Salisbury’s latest win came Saturday at Lehighton when Lozada led with 19 points. Julian Makhoul was right behind with 18 and Petrie scored 1.

Petrie, a senior, has scored in double figures in each of the five games this season and is averaging 12.2 points per game.

Lozada is averaging 15.2 per game and leads the team with six three-pointers while Makhoul, a junior is averaging 13.2 points per game.

The Falcons have two more games before Christmas, and they are both on the road. Salisbury travels to Slatington to play Northern Lehigh tonight and then is at Moravian Academy Friday night.

The Bulldogs are off to a 3-4 start overall and 2-3 in the Colonial League. The Lions have stumbled out of the block with an 0-5 start with four of those losses being in league games.
