Emmaus swim teams take on Parkland
The Emmaus swimming and diving teams competed in two meets last week.
The Hornet girls team beat Pocono Mountain East 112-38 last Tuesday, Dec. 17 before falling to Parkland Friday, 124-62. The Emmaus boys team beat PME 112-44 and finished in a 93-93 tie with Parkland.
Against Pocono Mountain East, the Hornets won the first nine events of the meet with Mabry Kraus (200 individual medley, 100 freestyle), Babs Lyons (200 free), Ellie Bowen (50 free), Addie Cornish (diving), Madelyn Roberts (butterfly) and Kayla Kenner (500 free) all winning individual events.
Emmaus also won two of the three relays. The team of Roberts, Liz Mazzetti, Sriya Reddy and Kraus took first place in the 200 medley relay. The foursome of Reddy, Lyons, Kenner and Roberts won the 200 freestyle relay.
In the boys meet against the Cardinals, Emmaus again won the first nine events with seven different individual event winners, including Joe Lyons (200 free), Graham Lovett (IM), Carson Mosel (50 free), Doug Cornish (diving), Bryce King (butterfly), Evan LaRussa (100 free) and Carter Smith (500 free).
In relays, the Hornets’ Seamus Daly, Mosel, Aaron Kenny and King won the medley relay, while Mosel, Smith, Liam Schaeffer and Jack Duerholz took first place in the 200 freestyle relay.
Against Parkland, Doug Cornish (diving) and King (backstroke) were the Hornet’s only individual winners. Emmaus also won the medley relay with the foursome of King, Mosel, Smith and Roman Herman.
In the girls meet, Kenner (50 free) and Bowen (500 free) were the only event winners for Emmaus against Parkland.
